Re: 窶弃roject FAST窶?/Shared Services Center
Dear Steve:
This letter will confirm that the parties have agreed that the side letter agreement dated January 28, 1997 covering the 窶弃roject Fast窶? Shared Services Center (窶彜SC窶?) (p. 135 of the current contract) shall apply only to the movement of work to the SSC that has been planned as of the date of this letter, regardless of whether the work actually moves before or after ratification of the new collective bargaining agreement. As a result, the employees impacted by the conversion of the exempt, Guild and craft union payrolls through the introduction of new technology and movement of work to the SSC, and similar changes in Benefits work through technology and movement of work to the SSC and/or to vendors will receive the job protection provided for in Article VIII, Section 4 (as they existed in the 1998-2000 collective bargaining agreement). Those employees are: Laura Holland, May Louie, Irene O窶儡hea, Diana McDonough, Betty Fahey and Patrice Sneyd (Job Guaranteed).
Hereafter, except as explicitly described above, the January 28, 1997 letter and the provisions of Article VIII, Section 4 (as they existed in the 1998-2000 collective bargaining agreement) will no longer be applicable and will have no effect with respect to any bargaining unit work that is impacted by technological change, subcontracting or movement of work to the SSC. Rather, in the case of any such impact, the only applicable provisions shall be those of the newly created Article VIII, Section 3(D).
To assist in the redeployment of any or all of the employees named above as provided for in Article VIII, Section 4 of the 1998-2000 collective bargaining agreement, the Globe may offer a voluntary buyout to Finance and Benefits clerks on terms determined by the Globe. The Globe shall share with the Union information about the buyout before it is offered to the employees.
