RE: Globe Layoffs

In a conversation of yesterday 3/11/09 at approximately 3:25PM, Globe Labor Relations VP Harriet Gould stated the Globe would accept volunteers seeking layoff so that others who wish to continue working can do so without being impacted.

The Boston Newspaper Guild requests The Globe make this acceptance of volunteers be across all employees, both FT and PT, so that negative impact to the product is minimized.

Further, we request the Globe communicate the above acceptance of volunteers for layoff to all members in writing immediately.

We look forward to your prompt reply on this timely matter.
