RE: BNG Information Requests – Time Delay

The Boston Newspaper Guild is confused by consistent delay by The Globe in answering Boston Newspaper Guild information requests in a timely manner.

In particular, The BNG has continued to request for the past two weeks, a current, accurate seniority list for all editorial classifications now under scope in the current buyout/layoff contingent.

In an email of February 11, 2009 at 10:01am to myself, Globe Labor Relations VP Harriet Gould cites it will be another 10 days before we might receive the seniority list we have now requested in three separate memos.

While The BNG understands The Globe is “shorthanded” in certain departments, it is completely unacceptable/bad faith for any formal information request to take three weeks or more to be answered.

The BNG requests the specific reason as to the delay on the seniority list we currently seek.

We look forward to The Globe resolving this very basic issue of timely answers to information requests.
