Dear members,
As we are all aware of by now, last week on December 13, a new contract was ratified by our members with a vote of 364 Yes-194 No, and 2 abstentions.
There was much lively discussion of the contract prior to the vote and myself and the Executive Committee welcomed your participation in the process.
Your voices do not simply fade now that the contract is ratified. Quite the contrary; we need your thoughts, minds, passion and communication more than ever.
Policing and enforcing our Collective Bargaining Agreements is a daily task. This is a job done more efficiently with the hands on help of guild members.
When you see the contract being broken or something amiss in terms of how you or a colleague is being treated-please communicate that to your BNG Delegate or myself immediately.
In the recent contract ratification we have kept the integrity of our contract-and it remains one of the best in the industry-while also achieving some gains. The BNG will remain a vital, integral part of the changes we now see throughout the industry.
As we move forward, it’s important to realize no matter how you voted on the contract together we remain Union Brothers and Sisters fighting for each other.
I strongly encourage increased union participation by all members and look forward to holding weekly open office hours which are now posted.
On behalf of the entire Executive Committee, we thank you for your participation, passion and reason in 2006 and look forward to standing for and with you proudly and strongly in 2007.
Happy Holidays and a safe and healthy 2007 to all of our BNG members and Union Brothers and Sisters at the TNG/CWA and throughout the labor industry.
We also warmly welcome our new Brothers and Sisters from Boston.com.
Sincerely,
Dan Totten, BNG President
