AO study committee to do more research

In response to concerns voiced by some members at the recent general membership meeting, the committee studying the possibility of the BNG hiring an administrative officer will do more research and present its findings to the membership before the Governing Board votes on the matter.

The committee plans to do more interviews with officers and members from throughout The Newspaper Guild. If, after these interviews, the committee believes the BNG could benefit from hiring an AO, it would look to compile a proposed breakdown of duties for the AO and the local's president.

The committee also is conducting a more detailed cost analysis that will consider the ideas of hiring a full-time AO, hiring a part-time AO, and making the president's position full time (it currently is part time).

When the committee has concluded its next phase of research, a report of the findings will be mailed to each member's home address. A second general membership meeting will be held to discuss the issue prior to the Governing Board taking any action on the matter.

We will update the membership as this process continues.
